It's Over 😢
Right leg ITB was just starting to feel better yesterday, then I awoke at 2am with a terrible pain in my upper left leg.
It feels like a torn quad muscle. No bruising, but all the other symptoms. I can't even walk on it. Thank God it didn't happen on the trail or I'd need to be rescued... AGAIN!
Cindy is driving down to get me.
Thanks for all your prayers and support. It's been a great ride and I have a LOT of positive memories. I plan to make a Shutterfly book from my blog posts.
I mostly enjoyed all the interviews with day and section hikers... people I call normal.
I think I'll go back to being one now!
NOOOOOOO, Greg, I had a great talk with Cindy the other day on how we enjoy your posts. Sorry you have to end this way, I was pulling for you to complete it. You know your body better than anyone else, glad you listening to it. Get some rest, talk to you soon.
ReplyDeleteGreat chatting with you this morning. Thanks for the update on your injuries, glad you were off trail and a great place to stay. Give Cindy a hug from us, let her nurse you back to health. Talk to you when you get home.
ReplyDeleteMy last post as 007. You did so well. A lifetime of memories. Your smart to stop. We need you healthy enough to build Cindy's house. 🏡 Love you brother.
ReplyDeleteKeep in mind what you DID accomplish. That in and of itself would have been a lifetime achievement award for most! “The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn His face toward you and give you peace.” (Numbers 6:24-26)
ReplyDeleteGreg, hiking 1300 miles is definitely no small feat! Even though you didn't meet your goal, your health is way more important and the memories and friendships you made along the way will last a lifetime. Rest up and heal up, my friend. perhaps you can go back and finish the trail when the time is right. May the Lord bless you and your family.
ReplyDeleteSorry you could not finish your journey. I check in one you about once a week.
ReplyDeleteThanks Harley. Everyone's support and the blog is what kept me going.
DeleteDarn! Darn Darn DarnIT ! Thought you would be rounding turn 4 and on the back stretch. If the last 30 days was anything like the 2days we spent together in the Shenandoah section then I totally understand. It's brutal out there ... Sorry you couldn't finish on one leg . If there was a way I know you would ... You're achievement is admirable, next time you need to finish with a friend !
ReplyDeleteThanks Alan... it was fun while it lasted
